Yeah it's nearly chrismas!

I can't wait!
I'm so excited, it's December tomorrow and I start my Advent calendar - they're selling special pet ones at Highcroft (and lots of christmas toys and goodies).  Make sure your mum buys you one!  £2.95,  cheaper than Tesco (so I've heard) !  We're getting our christmas tree this weekend too - I love prodding and sniffing the presents under the tree.  I always get loads of presents, my friends are jealous and call me a pampered pet.  I think they're joking.  Ha ha

By the way, as a responsible Blogger, I am obliged to tell you that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, even if you are mad starving, should you eat anything you find under or on a Christmas tree!  Chocolate is very poisonous for us pets (except special doggie chocolate) and decorations can be very dangerous, especially if you jump into the tree to get them (which my friend Tigger the cat did and pulled the whole tree over, got a massive shock and a really told off)!  Don't want to end up in hospital for christmas do we... ;)

Oh dear, I've had to have an emergency operation!

A disaster happened last week - a small growth, lump, whatever, appeared on my toe.  Next thing I know, Dad has me booked into the hospital the next day (helps that he's the boss!) and asked Auntie Jules Pope (the master surgeon) to operate and take away the growthy thing.  She was so kind to me and I know she did a good job because dad was really pleased and it hardly hurt.  Now I have a snazzy bandage on my leg, so cool.

The worst part is not being able to go for walks, but that's OK because I am getting really spoilt with lots of cuddles and treats - like fresh chicken to eat!

I'm 5, going on 35!

Guess what, it was my birthday this week and I was 5!  My dad says that in dog years I'm 35 (there are 7 human years to every 1 dog year) which means that in two years time I'll be almost as old as he is :(    - but not as grey ;)

Did you know that only 2 out of 10 owners buy their dog a birthday present?  I feel extra special because not only did I get presents from Mum and Dad,  I got a birthday cake from Auntie Joyce and I got to play with Tilly all day.

And I blew the candles out on my cake - did you ever see a dog blowing out candles???   It took me ages, Tilly had to help, and we all laughed our heads off.  What a great day, wish you'd been there.  Love Ruby xx

Batty news

I’ve been completely into Facebook recently, neglecting my blog, sorry.  Have you been on the Highcroft Facebook page yet?  I love it so much!  Did you see that hilarious video last Friday?  The one “How to tease you dog”.  If my dad had done that to me I would have been mad.   Jemma Adams (Pet of the Month) and her wheels are pretty cool too.

We had a bat in this week for a caesarean – I have never seen a bat before, heard lots of scary stuff about them only coming out at night and flying round and round and living upside down and making strange noises.  She is called Spikey and had been rescued by Secret World and was with a foster mum.  The foster mum noticed that Spikey was getting bigger and bigger and brought it to us for a scan to see if she was pregnant - she was.  The baby was enormous, nearly as big as Spikey, but sadly it had died L  The good news is that the Spikey is absolutely fine however, she must have been a bit stressed because she bit Vim the vet who then had to go to A&E for a tetanus!
Bye for now, have a good weekend,
Ruby xx

I'm back!

Sorry I haven’t blogged for a while, I’ve been staying with my Granny at Burnham-on-Sea.  I really love my Granny, she takes me for lots of walks on the beach and gives me cuddles.

Whilst I was away, Dad did a massive bike ride to raise money for the Blood Bikes charity – 250 miles over 3 days.  He even cycled up the Snake Path in the Peak District without stopping, he’s so fit!  If you want make a donation, here’s the link   Blood Bikes Appeal 2011

My easter bonnet!!!!!

Easter was greeaaat!  Not only did I get doggy chocs, I got this cool easter bonnet.  Thanks mum!

Hey, Highcroft's on facebook now so you can  keep right up to date with what's going on Highcroft on Facebook

See you all soon, Rubes xxx

All I want for Easter is doggy chocs, hint hint :=)

I don’t mean to moan, but things are a bit up and down lately.  The ‘down’ is that my mum and dad have been dishing out Easter Eggs to my human cousins like they’re going out of fashion and if I hear “Make sure you don’t give any to Ruby” one more time, I’m going to yowl.

Seems that Easter Eggs are bad for dogs, what’s that all about?  Well I’ve looked it up, and they are.  What’s more, they are especially bad for small dogs like me.  Chocolate has something in it that can make us very ill, and can even kill us if we have too much. Boo Hoo.

There is an ‘up’ though – I know that there is a special ‘chocolate for dogs’, I’ve seen it for sale at Highcroft, so I’m hoping for a surprise on Sunday from my human cousins who always make a fuss of me :=)

Wish me luck - Happy Easter everyone!

It should have been me!

I can’t tell you how busy things have been over the past week or so.   The reception at the hospital has had a make-over, and we’ve even had a camera crew filming behind the scenes for a ‘hospital tour’.  Everyone showing off how good they are – except me!  There’s a goose in it, Raj, wandering around like he owns the place, but not me.  How can there be a film without the star of Highcroft, the boss’s pet?! :=S   It’s an outrage.  I’m sacking my agent.
